Another showcased image!

07th August 2010
Congratulations again go to Simon Whitehouse, who has had another of his images showcased by Bigstock of New York.

Simon's image of a Sumatran Tiger features in Bigstock's 14 Beautiful and Captivating Wildlife Photos showcase, which outlines some of the best images that can be purchased from the agency.

Simon Whitehouse

"The image was captured at Dudley Zoo in the West Midlands during a week when I was out scouting locations for the Wildlife Photography Workshops. It was a pretty grey old day with the sunlight breaking through the cloud cover in fits and starts. I found a high vantage point so I was looking down on the Tiger, and just waited for the sun to come through so I could make the image.

The image was captured using aperture priority mode on a Canon 20D with a 90-300mm lens although I could have taken the shot on almost any camera that has lens reach of around 230mm or higher. Which just goes to show that you don't need hundreds of pounds worth of gear in order to take great images. What you do need is a good understanding in the basics of photography and this is exactly what we teach on the workshops.

Micro-stock agencies such as Bigstock are also a great way of making an additional income from your hobby. The whole process of taking, preparing, keywording and submitting images to stock agencies is fully explained in our Income From Photography e-book. The book is priced at just £19.99 and includes 12 months free customer care support".
