A 6 hour studio based Photography Workshop shooting a female fashion model with professional, personal tuition in a small group of 6.

  • How to set up and meter out the lights.
  • How to set up your camera to shoot.
  • 1 light softbox setup.
  • 2 light setup.
  • Using barndoors and snoots for creative lighting setups.
  • Clamshell beauty lighting setup.
  • Using a reflector to fill in the shadows.
The Location
6 hour studio Photography Workshop in Cradley Heath, West Midlands

Picture this: - During the day we will be working against red, white and black backgrounds using a leather sofa and chair as our props. We will demonstrate how to correctly set up your camera, how to meter the lights using a light meter and how set up various lighting schemes.





































1 light softbox setup

Picture this: - Using just 1 studio head and a large softbox, we will show you how to create a simple soft light set up that will flatter your subject.









































2 light softbox and fill setup

Picture this: - By introducing a second studio head as a fill light we can create images which have a different look and feel about them.





































Using Barndoors and snoots for creative light

Picture this: - By removing the softbox from the studio head and adding barndoors or a snoot we can create a harder looking light that we have lots of control over.


































Clamshell beauty lighting setup

Picture this: - We show you how to set up and meter out a Clamshell lighting scheme for beautiful headshots. Shoot the ladies using this and they will love you forever!

























Using a reflector to fill in the shadows
Picture this: -We show you how to correctly use a reflector panel to bounce light back into the shadow areas of your subject. We also explain how your choice of either a silver or gold reflector affects the final image.












Where to meet
Meet at the studio at 10:15am on Sunday 17th April 2011. We will send you the studio address and directions with your booking confirmation.

What to bring
  • Digital Bridge type camera or DSLR
  • A lens with a focal range of 24 to 100mm if you have a DSLR
  • A lightmeter if you have one.
  • A 2GB or larger memory card.
Don’t worry if you haven’t got all of this equipment – let us know what you need and we’ll have it available for you on the day, free of charge .

Do you need to be fit?
No. The car park is right next door to the studio and this Photography Workshop is not strenuous.
